The EIF4G2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB19990) is a valuable tool for researchers studying EIF4G2, a protein involved in translation initiation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for EIF4G2 and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. By binding to EIF4G2, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of the protein in different cell types, making it suitable for research in molecular biology and cancer biology.EIF4G2, also known as eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4 gamma 2, plays a crucial role in the initiation of protein synthesis, making it a key player in cellular processes such as cell growth and proliferation.
Dysregulation of EIF4G2 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. Studying the function of EIF4G2 can provide valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying disease progression and may lead to the development of novel treatment strategies.Overall, the EIF4G2 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable tool for researchers seeking to investigate the role of EIF4G2 in cellular processes and disease states. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it a valuable asset in the pursuit of scientific discovery and the development of new therapeutic approaches.

Translation initiation is mediated by specific recognition of the cap structure by eukaryotic translation initiation factor 4F (eIF4F), which is a cap binding protein complex that consists of three subunits: eIF4A, eIF4E and eIF4G. The protein encoded by this gene shares similarity with the C-terminal region of eIF4G that contains the binding sites for eIF4A and eIF3; eIF4G, in addition, contains a binding site for eIF4E at the N-terminus. Unlike eIF4G, which supports cap-dependent and independent translation, this gene product functions as a general repressor of translation by forming translationally inactive complexes. In vitro and in vivo studies indicate that translation of this mRNA initiates exclusively at a non-AUG (GUG) codon. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms of this gene have been described.
