The EIF4G1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB7552) is specifically designed for research focused on EIF4G1, a key protein involved in translation initiation. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the EIF4G1 protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent tool for studies in molecular biology and cancer research.EIF4G1 is an essential component of the eukaryotic translation initiation complex, playing a crucial role in the recruitment of ribosomes to mRNA and the regulation of protein synthesis.
Dysregulation of EIF4G1 has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, neurological disorders, and metabolic conditions. Research on EIF4G1 is vital for understanding its implications in disease pathology and for developing targeted therapies that may help mitigate its impact on cellular function.

The protein encoded by this gene is a component of the multi-subunit protein complex EIF4F. This complex facilitates the recruitment of mRNA to the ribosome, which is a rate-limiting step during the initiation phase of protein synthesis. The recognition of the mRNA cap and the ATP-dependent unwinding of 5'-terminal secondary structure is catalyzed by factors in this complex. The subunit encoded by this gene is a large scaffolding protein that contains binding sites for other members of the EIF4F complex. A domain at its N-terminus can also interact with the poly(A)-binding protein, which may mediate the circularization of mRNA during translation. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, some of which are derived from alternative promoter usage.
