The EGFL6 Polyclonal Antibody (PAC014366) is a valuable tool for researchers studying EGFL6, a secreted protein involved in various biological processes including cell proliferation, differentiation, and tissue regeneration. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the EGFL6 protein, researchers can easily detect and analyze its expression in different cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in developmental biology, cancer research, and regenerative medicine.
EGFL6, also known as Epidermal Growth Factor-like protein 6, plays a crucial role in tissue development and repair by promoting cell growth and angiogenesis. Its involvement in cancer progression and regenerative processes makes it a promising target for therapeutic interventions. By understanding the function of EGFL6, researchers can gain insights into its role in disease pathology and potentially develop targeted treatments to manipulate its activity for beneficial outcomes.

Background:
This gene encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) repeat superfamily. Members of this superfamily are characterized by the presence of EGF-like repeats and are often involved in the regulation of cell cycle, proliferation, and developmental processes. The gene product contains a signal peptide, suggesting that it is secreted; an EGF repeat region consisting of 4 complete EGF-like repeats and 1 partial EGF-like repeat, 3 of which have a calcium-binding consensus sequence; an arg-gly-asp integrin association motif; and a MAM domain, which is believed to have an adhesive function. This gene is expressed early during development, and its expression has been detected in lung and meningioma tumors.
Synonyms:
EGF-like-domain, multiple 6
UniProt Protein Function:
EGFL6: May bind integrin alpha-8/beta-1 and play a role in hair follicle morphogenesis. Promotes matrix assembly. Belongs to the nephronectin family. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Protein type: Secreted, signal peptide; SecretedChromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: Xp22Cellular Component: extracellular space; membrane; basement membraneMolecular Function: integrin binding; calcium ion bindingBiological Process: extracellular matrix organization and biogenesis; multicellular organismal development; cell cycle; cell adhesion; cell differentiation
