The DAD1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB14723) is a valuable research tool for studying DAD1, a protein involved in the ER-associated degradation pathway. This antibody, generated in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding specifically to the DAD1 protein, this antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze DAD1 expression in various cell types, making it an essential tool for studies in molecular biology and protein degradation pathways.
DAD1, also known as defender against cell death, is a crucial component of the ER-associated degradation system that helps maintain cellular homeostasis by eliminating misfolded proteins. Dysregulation of this pathway has been implicated in various diseases, including neurodegenerative disorders and cancer. Therefore, understanding the function of DAD1 is essential for unraveling the mechanisms underlying these conditions and developing targeted therapies in the future.

DAD1, the defender against apoptotic cell death, was initially identified as a negative regulator of programmed cell death in the temperature sensitive tsBN7 cell line. The DAD1 protein disappeared in temperature-sensitive cells following a shift to the nonpermissive temperature, suggesting that loss of the DAD1 protein triggered apoptosis. DAD1 is believed to be a tightly associated subunit of oligosaccharyltransferase both in the intact membrane and in the purified enzyme, thus reflecting the essential nature of N-linked glycosylation in eukaryotes.
