What are cytokines?
Cytokines are small signalling proteins released by immune and other cells to regulate immunity, inflammation, haematopoiesis and cell proliferation. Named by source or function — lymphokines, monokines, chemokines, interleukins — they bind specific receptors to coordinate the immune response, and are classified as pro-inflammatory (e.g. IL-1, TNF-α) or anti-inflammatory (e.g. IL-10, TGF-β).
Because they act at very low concentrations, accurate cytokine measurement demands high-sensitivity, low-cross-reactivity assays — exactly what these kits are built for.
