The CYP51A1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6252) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the CYP51A1 protein, an essential enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of sterols. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits strong reactivity specifically with human samples and is optimized for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the CYP51A1 protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in the fields of biochemistry and pharmacology.CYP51A1, also known as lanosterol 14-alpha demethylase, is a key enzyme in the cholesterol biosynthesis pathway, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions in diseases related to cholesterol metabolism.
Research on CYP51A1 is crucial for advancing our understanding of cholesterol regulation and could lead to the development of new drugs for conditions such as cardiovascular disease and certain types of cancer. By using the CYP51A1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can explore the functions and mechanisms of this enzyme, paving the way for novel treatment strategies in various medical disciplines.

This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This endoplasmic reticulum protein participates in the synthesis of cholesterol by catalyzing the removal of the 14alpha-methyl group from lanosterol. Homologous genes are found in all three eukaryotic phyla, fungi, plants, and animals, suggesting that this is one of the oldest cytochrome P450 genes. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
