Description
CYP2C19 Antibody (PACO06400)
The CYP2C19 Antibody is a polyclonal antibody designed for research involving the CYP2C19 enzyme, which is responsible for metabolizing a wide range of drugs in the body. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and is validated for use in various applications including Western blot and immunohistochemistry. The CYP2C19 enzyme is known for its role in drug metabolism, particularly in the activation or inactivation of certain medications. Variations in the CYP2C19 gene can lead to differences in drug response and effectiveness, making it a key target for personalized medicine and pharmacogenomic studies.
Research into the CYP2C19 enzyme is crucial for understanding the mechanisms behind drug metabolism and response variability in patients. By studying the activity and expression of CYP2C19, researchers can improve drug dosing strategies, reduce the risk of adverse drug reactions, and optimize therapeutic outcomes for individuals with different genetic profiles.

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and is known to metabolize many xenobiotics, including the anticonvulsive drug mephenytoin, omeprazole, diazepam and some barbiturates. Polymorphism within this gene is associated with variable ability to metabolize mephenytoin, known as the poor metabolizer and extensive metabolizer phenotypes. The gene is located within a cluster of cytochrome P450 genes on chromosome 10q24. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008] |
