The CYP27A1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1982) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the role of CYP27A1, an enzyme involved in the metabolism of cholesterol and vitamin D. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the CYP27A1 protein, researchers can effectively detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making this antibody essential for studies in lipid metabolism, vitamin D regulation, and related pathways.CYP27A1 plays a crucial role in the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids and the activation of vitamin D, making it a key player in maintaining proper lipid homeostasis and vitamin D levels in the body.
Dysregulation of CYP27A1 activity has been associated with various metabolic disorders, including dyslipidemia and vitamin D deficiency, highlighting the importance of understanding its function in health and disease. By utilizing the CYP27A1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can further explore the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets for intervention.

This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This mitochondrial protein oxidizes cholesterol intermediates as part of the bile synthesis pathway. Since the conversion of cholesterol to bile acids is the major route for removing cholesterol from the body, this protein is important for overall cholesterol homeostasis. Mutations in this gene cause cerebrotendinous xanthomatosis, a rare autosomal recessive lipid storage disease.
