The CYP26B1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12142) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CYP26B1, a key enzyme involved in the metabolism of retinoic acid. This antibody, generated in rabbits, shows strong reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the CYP26B1 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of CYP26B1 expression in a variety of cell types, making it an essential asset for studies in drug metabolism and development.CYP26B1 plays a crucial role in regulating the levels of retinoic acid, a derivative of vitamin A that is essential for various biological processes including development, differentiation, and immune function.
Dysregulation of CYP26B1 has been linked to a range of diseases, making it a promising target for therapeutic intervention. Understanding the function of CYP26B1 is of great significance in the fields of pharmacology, toxicology, and developmental biology, as it provides insights into how retinoic acid metabolism influences health and disease.

This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. The encoded protein is localized to the endoplasmic reticulum, and functions as a critical regulator of all-trans retinoic acid levels by the specific inactivation of all-trans retinoic acid to hydroxylated forms. Mutations in this gene are associated with radiohumeral fusions and other skeletal and craniofacial anomalies, and increased levels of the encoded protein are associated with atherosclerotic lesions. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
