The CYP11A1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16363) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the CYP11A1 protein, which is involved in the biosynthesis of steroid hormones in the mitochondria of steroidogenic cells. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.CYP11A1, also known as cytochrome P450scc, is a key enzyme in the steroidogenic pathway, catalyzing the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone. Dysregulation of CYP11A1 has been linked to various hormonal disorders and diseases, making it a target of interest in endocrinology and reproductive biology research.
By using the CYP11A1 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and analyze the expression of CYP11A1 in different cell types, providing insights into its role in hormone production and metabolism. This antibody is particularly useful for studies investigating steroid hormone biosynthesis, adrenal function, and reproductive health.Overall, the CYP11A1 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable tool for researchers aiming to better understand the function and regulation of CYP11A1 in physiological and pathological conditions, paving the way for potential therapeutic interventions in hormone-related disorders.

Immunogen:
A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 40-320 of human CYP11A1 (NP_000772.2).
This gene encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane and catalyzes the conversion of cholesterol to pregnenolone, the first and rate-limiting step in the synthesis of the steroid hormones. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. The cellular location of the smaller isoform is unclear since it lacks the mitochondrial-targeting transit peptide.
