The CYB5R3 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB7535) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CYB5R3, a cytochrome b5 reductase enzyme involved in various cellular processes. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human CYB5R3 and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the CYB5R3 protein, researchers can detect and analyze its expression in different cell types, making it ideal for studies in biochemistry, metabolism, and genetics.CYB5R3 is a key enzyme involved in electron transfer pathways, playing a crucial role in the metabolism of lipids, steroids, and other molecules.
Dysregulation of CYB5R3 has been linked to various diseases, making it a potential therapeutic target for conditions such as metabolic disorders, cancer, and neurological disorders. Understanding the function and regulation of CYB5R3 is essential for developing targeted treatments and advancing our knowledge of cellular metabolism.

This gene encodes cytochrome b5 reductase, which includes a membrane-bound form in somatic cells (anchored in the endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondrial and other membranes) and a soluble form in erythrocytes. The membrane-bound form exists mainly on the cytoplasmic side of the endoplasmic reticulum and functions in desaturation and elongation of fatty acids, in cholesterol biosynthesis, and in drug metabolism. The erythrocyte form is located in a soluble fraction of circulating erythrocytes and is involved in methemoglobin reduction. The membrane-bound form has both membrane-binding and catalytic domains, while the soluble form has only the catalytic domain. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Mutations in this gene cause methemoglobinemias.
