The Cathepsin K Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1782) is an essential tool for researchers studying Cathepsin K, a lysosomal cysteine protease involved in bone resorption and remodeling. This antibody, developed using rabbits as hosts, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the Cathepsin K protein, researchers can accurately detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making it particularly valuable for studies in osteoporosis, arthritis, and other bone-related diseases.
Cathepsin K is a key player in the breakdown of bone matrix proteins, making it a promising target for therapeutic interventions aimed at treating bone disorders. By understanding the role of Cathepsin K in bone metabolism, researchers can gain insights into potential treatments for osteoporosis and other skeletal conditions. The Cathepsin K Polyclonal Antibody opens up opportunities for further research into the mechanisms underlying bone resorption and the development of targeted therapies for bone-related diseases.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 115-329 of human CTSK (NP_000387.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase involved in bone remodeling and resorption. This protein, which is a member of the peptidase C1 protein family, is predominantly expressed in osteoclasts. However, the encoded protein is also expressed in a significant fraction of human breast cancers, where it could contribute to tumor invasiveness. Mutations in this gene are the cause of pycnodysostosis, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by osteosclerosis and short stature.
