The CROT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB4790) is a valuable tool for research involving CROT, a key enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism and energy production. This antibody, produced in rabbits, boasts high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the CROT protein, this antibody allows for the accurate detection and analysis of CROT in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in metabolism, energy regulation, and mitochondrial function.CROT, also known as carnitine O-octanoyltransferase, plays a crucial role in fatty acid β-oxidation, the process by which fatty acids are broken down to generate energy.
Dysregulation of CROT activity has been linked to metabolic disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. Understanding the function of CROT is essential for uncovering the mechanisms underlying these conditions and developing targeted therapies to address them.In conclusion, the CROT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB4790) is a reliable tool for investigating the roles and regulation of CROT in metabolic pathways. Its specificity and sensitivity make it a valuable resource for researchers interested in unraveling the complexities of fatty acid metabolism and energy homeostasis.

This gene encodes a member of the carnitine/choline acetyltransferase family. The encoded protein converts 4,8-dimethylnonanoyl-CoA to its corresponding carnitine ester. This transesterification occurs in the peroxisome and is necessary for transport of medium- and long- chain acyl-CoA molecules out of the peroxisome to the cytosol and mitochondria. The protein thus plays a role in lipid metabolism and fatty acid beta-oxidation. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.
