The CRAT Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6365) is a valuable tool for research involving Carnitine O-acetyltransferase (CRAT), an enzyme involved in fatty acid metabolism and energy production. The antibody, produced in rabbits, shows high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunohistochemistry.CRAT plays a crucial role in the transportation of long-chain fatty acids into the mitochondria for β-oxidation, a key process in energy production. Dysregulation of CRAT has been implicated in metabolic disorders, including obesity and fatty liver disease, making it an important target for research in the fields of metabolism and energy balance.
By detecting and analyzing CRAT protein expression, researchers can gain insights into the role of this enzyme in metabolic pathways and diseases. The CRAT Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable tool for investigating CRAT function in different tissues and cell types, providing valuable information for studies aimed at understanding metabolic disorders and developing therapeutic strategies.

This gene encodes carnitine O-acetyltransferase, a member of the carnitine acyltransferase family and a key metabolic pathway enzyme which plays an important role in energy homeostasis and fat metabolism. This enzyme catalyzes the reversible transfer of acyl groups from an acyl-CoA thioester to carnitine and regulates the ratio of acyl-CoA/CoA. It is found in both the mitochondria and the peroxisome. Alternative splicing results in transcript variants encoding different isoforms that may localize to different subcellular compartments.
