The COX8A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3290) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 8A (COX8A) protein. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the COX8A protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of COX8A levels in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in the fields of biochemistry and mitochondrial biology.COX8A is a subunit of cytochrome c oxidase, the final enzyme in the mitochondrial electron transport chain.
As such, it plays a crucial role in oxidative phosphorylation and energy production within the cell. Research into COX8A can provide insights into mitochondrial function, metabolism, and potential therapeutic targets for diseases related to mitochondrial dysfunction.Overall, the COX8A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB3290) offers researchers a reliable tool for studying the role of COX8A in cellular processes, making it a valuable asset for studies in biochemistry, mitochondrial biology, and related fields.

The protein encoded by this gene is the terminal enzyme of the respiratory chain, coupling the transfer of electrons from cytochrome c to molecular oxygen, with the concomitant production of a proton electrochemical gradient across the inner mitochondrial membrane. In addition to 3 mitochondrially encoded subunits, which perform the catalytic function, the eukaryotic enzyme contains nuclear-encoded smaller subunits, ranging in number from 4 in some organisms to 10 in mammals. It has been proposed that nuclear-encoded subunits may be involved in the modulation of the catalytic function. This gene encodes one of the nuclear-encoded subunits.
