Description
COX5A Monoclonal Antibody [PAT7A6AT] (CPAB0644)
The COX5A Polyclonal Antibody (CPAB0644) is a valuable tool for researchers studying mitochondrial function and cellular metabolism. This antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically targets the COX5A protein, a subunit of cytochrome c oxidase, an essential enzyme complex in the electron transport chain.COX5A is involved in the transfer of electrons in the mitochondria, playing a crucial role in aerobic respiration and energy production. Research suggests that dysregulation of COX5A may be associated with various metabolic disorders and diseases, making it a promising target for further investigation.
Validated for use in Western blot applications, the COX5A Polyclonal Antibody offers high reactivity with human samples, allowing for accurate detection and analysis of COX5A expression in different cell types. Its versatility makes it ideal for studies in metabolic diseases, mitochondrial dysfunction, and respiratory chain deficiencies. By gaining a deeper understanding of COX5A function, researchers can uncover new insights into the mechanisms underlying these conditions and potentially identify novel therapeutic targets.

Background: | Cytochrome C Oxidase Subunit Va (COX5A) is a member of the cytochrome c oxidase subunit 5A family. COX (Cytochrome C Oxidase), which is the terminal component of the mitochondrial respiratory chain, catalyzes the electron transfer from reduced Cytochrome C to oxygen. The COX component is a heteromeric complex comprised of three catalytic subunits encoded by mitochondrial genes and multiple structural subunits encoded by nuclear genes. The mitochondrially-encoded subunits serve in electron transfer, and the nuclear-encoded subunits act in the regulation and assembly of the complex. COX5A is the heme A-containing chain of Cytochrome C Oxidase, which is the terminal oxidase in mitochondrial electron transport. |
