The COMP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5812) is a vital tool for researchers studying the COMP protein, which is involved in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. This polyclonal antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is optimized for Western blot applications. By targeting the COMP protein, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of COMP in various cell types, making it a valuable asset for investigations in the fields of musculoskeletal biology and cartilage development.COMP, also known as cartilage oligomeric matrix protein, plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of cartilage and other connective tissues.
Dysregulation of COMP expression has been linked to degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Furthermore, COMP has been implicated in the progression of certain cancers, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for these conditions.By using the COMP Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5812), researchers can gain valuable insights into the function and regulatory mechanisms of the COMP protein, paving the way for novel therapeutic strategies and diagnostic tools in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders and cancer.

The protein encoded by this gene is a noncollagenous extracellular matrix (ECM) protein. It consists of five identical glycoprotein subunits, each with EGF-like and calcium-binding (thrombospondin-like) domains. Oligomerization results from formation of a five-stranded coiled coil and disulfides. Binding to other ECM proteins such as collagen appears to depend on divalent cations. Contraction or expansion of a 5 aa aspartate repeat and other mutations can cause pseudochondroplasia (PSACH) and multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED).
