The COMP Monoclonal Antibody is a specialized tool for researchers studying cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP), a key component in the extracellular matrix of cartilage and other tissues. This monoclonal antibody, produced using cutting-edge technology, is highly specific and sensitive for detecting COMP in various sample types. Its compatibility with techniques like immunohistochemistry and ELISA makes it versatile for a wide range of research applications in orthopedics, rheumatology, and musculoskeletal biology.
COMP is known for its role in maintaining cartilage integrity and function, making it a valuable target for investigating conditions like osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and skeletal dysplasias. By using the COMP Monoclonal Antibody, researchers can better understand the expression patterns and functions of COMP in different tissues, paving the way for advancements in diagnostics and therapeutic interventions for cartilage-related disorders.

The protein encoded by this gene is a noncollagenous extracellular matrix (ECM) protein. It consists of five identical glycoprotein subunits, each with EGF-like and calcium-binding (thrombospondin-like) domains. Oligomerization results from formation of a five-stranded coiled coil and disulfides. Binding to other ECM proteins such as collagen appears to depend on divalent cations. Contraction or expansion of a 5 aa aspartate repeat and other mutations can cause pseudochondroplasia (PSACH) and multiple epiphyseal dysplasia (MED).
