The CNTF Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1915) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the cytokine CNTF (Ciliary Neurotrophic Factor), which plays a crucial role in the development and maintenance of the nervous system. This antibody, generated in rabbits, has high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.CNTF is known for its neurotrophic and neuroprotective properties, making it a promising target for research in neurological disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and multiple sclerosis.
By specifically binding to the CNTF protein, this antibody enables accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in neuroscience and neurology.Understanding the role of CNTF in neuronal survival and function is essential for developing therapeutic strategies to treat neurodegenerative diseases. The CNTF Polyclonal Antibody provides a reliable tool for researchers to delve deeper into the mechanisms underlying CNTF signaling and its potential applications in treating neurological conditions.

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence within amino acids 24-74 of human CNTF (NP_000605.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is a polypeptide hormone whose actions appear to be restricted to the nervous system where it promotes neurotransmitter synthesis and neurite outgrowth in certain neuronal populations. The protein is a potent survival factor for neurons and oligodendrocytes and may be relevant in reducing tissue destruction during inflammatory attacks. A mutation in this gene, which results in aberrant splicing, leads to ciliary neurotrophic factor deficiency, but this phenotype is not causally related to neurologic disease. A read-through transcript variant composed of the upstream ZFP91 gene and CNTF sequence has been identified, but it is thought to be non-coding. Read-through transcription of ZFP91 and CNTF has also been observed in mouse.
