The CLPS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12772) is a specialized research tool designed for the study of CLPS, a key protein involved in lipid metabolism and energy balance. This antibody is produced in rabbits and has been validated for use in Western blot applications, ensuring accurate detection and analysis of CLPS in various cellular samples.CLPS, also known as Colipase, is an essential cofactor for pancreatic lipase, facilitating the hydrolysis of dietary triglycerides in the small intestine. Dysfunction or dysregulation of CLPS can lead to impaired digestion and absorption of fats, resulting in metabolic disorders such as obesity and hyperlipidemia. By targeting CLPS with this antibody, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying lipid metabolism and potentially develop novel therapeutic strategies for addressing related diseases.
With its high reactivity and specificity for human samples, the CLPS Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12772) is a valuable tool for scientists conducting research in the fields of nutrition, metabolism, and gastrointestinal physiology. By elucidating the role of CLPS in lipid digestion and absorption, this antibody can contribute to a deeper understanding of metabolic disorders and facilitate the development of targeted interventions to improve human health.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cofactor needed by pancreatic lipase for efficient dietary lipid hydrolysis. It binds to the C-terminal, non-catalytic domain of lipase, thereby stabilizing an active conformation and considerably increasing the overall hydrophobic binding site. The gene product allows lipase to anchor noncovalently to the surface of lipid micelles, counteracting the destabilizing influence of intestinal bile salts. This cofactor is only expressed in pancreatic acinar cells, suggesting regulation of expression by tissue-specific elements. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
