The COL1A2 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16699) is a valuable tool for researchers studying collagen type I alpha 2 (COL1A2), a key component of the extracellular matrix in connective tissues. The antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications. By specifically binding to the COL1A2 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of COL1A2 in various cell types, making it an essential resource for studies in cell biology, tissue engineering, and regenerative medicine.COL1A2, a major structural protein in the extracellular matrix, plays a significant role in maintaining tissue integrity and strength.
Dysregulation of COL1A2 expression is associated with various human diseases, including osteogenesis imperfecta and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Understanding the function and regulation of COL1A2 is crucial for developing treatments targeting connective tissue disorders and injuries. The COL1A2 Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers with a valuable tool to investigate the role of COL1A2 in health and disease, ultimately paving the way for the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

This gene encodes the pro-alpha2 chain of type I collagen whose triple helix comprises two alpha1 chains and one alpha2 chain. Type I is a fibril-forming collagen found in most connective tissues and is abundant in bone, cornea, dermis and tendon. Mutations in this gene are associated with osteogenesis imperfecta types I-IV, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type VIIB, recessive Ehlers-Danlos syndrome Classical type, idiopathic osteoporosis, and atypical Marfan syndrome. Symptoms associated with mutations in this gene, however, tend to be less severe than mutations in the gene for the alpha1 chain of type I collagen (COL1A1) reflecting the different role of alpha2 chains in matrix integrity. Three transcripts, resulting from the use of alternate polyadenylation signals, have been identified for this gene.
