The CKMT1A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5233) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CKMT1A, a key enzyme involved in cellular energy metabolism. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity and reactivity towards human samples, making it an excellent choice for Western blot applications. By binding to the CKMT1A protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it ideal for investigations in biochemistry and molecular biology.CKMT1A, also known as mitochondrial creatine kinase, plays a crucial role in maintaining ATP levels in mitochondria, essential for various cellular processes including muscle contraction and energy production.
Dysregulation of CKMT1A has been implicated in diseases such as mitochondrial myopathy and cardiac dysfunction, highlighting its importance in cellular health and function. Research into the function and regulation of CKMT1A is vital for developing targeted therapies for these conditions and advancing our understanding of cellular metabolism.

Mitochondrial creatine (MtCK) kinase is responsible for the transfer of high energy phosphate from mitochondria to the cytosolic carrier, creatine. It belongs to the creatine kinase isoenzyme family. It exists as two isoenzymes, sarcomeric MtCK and ubiquitous MtCK, encoded by separate genes. Mitochondrial creatine kinase occurs in two different oligomeric forms: dimers and octamers, in contrast to the exclusively dimeric cytosolic creatine kinase isoenzymes. Many malignant cancers with poor prognosis have shown overexpression of ubiquitous mitochondrial creatine kinase; this may be related to high energy turnover and failure to eliminate cancer cells via apoptosis. Ubiquitous mitochondrial creatine kinase has 80% homology with the coding exons of sarcomeric mitochondrial creatine kinase. Two genes located near each other on chromosome 15 have been identified which encode identical mitochondrial creatine kinase proteins.
