Description
CHSY1 Antibody (PACO60657)
The CHSY1 Polyclonal Antibody (PAC060657) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CHSY1, a protein involved in chondroitin sulfate synthesis. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the CHSY1 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of CHSY1 in various cell types, making it ideal for research in the fields of glycobiology and cartilage biology.CHSY1 is an essential enzyme in the biosynthesis of chondroitin sulfate, a critical component of the extracellular matrix in cartilage and other connective tissues.
Dysregulation of CHSY1 expression has been implicated in various diseases, including osteoarthritis and cancer. Research on CHSY1 can provide valuable insights into the role of chondroitin sulfate in health and disease, offering potential targets for therapeutic intervention in conditions involving aberrant extracellular matrix remodeling.

IHC image of PACO60657 diluted at 1:300 and staining in paraffin-embedded human kidney tissue performed on a Leica BondTM system. After dewaxing and hydration, antigen retrieval was mediated by high pressure in a citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Section was blocked with 10% normal goat serum 30min at RT. Then primary antibody (1% BSA) was incubated at 4°C overnight. The primary is detected by a biotinylated secondary antibody and visualized using an HRP conjugated SP system. | |

Background: | Has both beta-1,3-glucuronic acid, and beta-1,4-N-acetylgalactosamine transferase activity. Transfers glucuronic acid, (GlcUA) from UDP-GlcUA and N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) from UDP-GalNAc to the non-reducing end of the elongating chondroitin polymer. Involved in the negative control of osteogenesis likely through the modulation of NOTCH signaling. |
Synonyms: | Chondroitin sulfate synthase 1 (EC 2.4.1.175) (EC 2.4.1.226) (Chondroitin glucuronyltransferase 1) (Chondroitin synthase 1) (ChSy-1) (Glucuronosyl-N-acetylgalactosaminyl-proteoglycan 4-beta-N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 1) (N-acetylgalactosaminyl-proteoglycan 3-beta-glucuronosyltransferase 1) (N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase 1), CHSY1, CHSY CSS1 KIAA0990 |
UniProt Protein Function: | CHSY1: Has both beta-1,3-glucuronic acid and beta-1,4-N- acetylgalactosamine transferase activity. Transfers glucuronic acid (GlcUA) from UDP-GlcUA and N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) from UDP-GalNAc to the non-reducing end of the elongating chondroitin polymer. Involved in the negative control of osteogenesis likely through the modulation of NOTCH signaling. Defects in CHSY1 are the cause of Temtamy preaxial brachydactyly syndrome (TPBS). A syndrome characterized by multiple congenital anomalies, mental retardation, sensorineural deafness, talon cusps of upper central incisors, growth retardation, and bilateral symmetric digital anomalies mainly in the form of preaxial brachydactyly and hyperphalangism. Belongs to the chondroitin N- acetylgalactosaminyltransferase family. |

NCBI Summary: | This gene encodes a member of the chondroitin N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase family. These enzymes possess dual glucuronyltransferase and galactosaminyltransferase activity and play critical roles in the biosynthesis of chondroitin sulfate, a glycosaminoglycan involved in many biological processes including cell proliferation and morphogenesis. Decreased expression of this gene may play a role in colorectal cancer, and mutations in this gene are a cause of temtamy preaxial brachydactyly syndrome. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011] |
