The CHRFAM7A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12603) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CHRFAM7A, a gene implicated in neuronal function and cognitive disorders. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blot analysis. By specifically binding to the CHRFAM7A protein, this antibody allows for the detection and investigation of CHRFAM7A in different cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in neuroscience and neurobiological research.
CHRFAM7A, a fusion gene combining portions of the CHRNA7 and FAM7A genes, has been linked to conditions such as schizophrenia, Alzheimer's disease, and epilepsy. Understanding the role of CHRFAM7A in neuronal processes is crucial for unraveling the mechanisms underlying these disorders and developing targeted therapies. By targeting CHRFAM7A with this polyclonal antibody, researchers can gain insights into its function and potential implications for neurological health.

The nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) are members of a superfamily of ligand-gated ion channels that mediate fast signal transmission at synapses. The family member CHRNA7, which is located on chromosome 15 in a region associated with several neuropsychiatric disorders, is partially duplicated and forms a hybrid with a novel gene from the family with sequence similarity 7 (FAM7A). Alternative splicing has been observed, and two variants exist, for this hybrid gene. The N-terminally truncated products predicted by the largest open reading frames for each variant would lack the majority of the neurotransmitter-gated ion-channel ligand binding domain but retain the transmembrane region that forms the ion channel. Although current evidence supports transcription of this hybrid gene, translation of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor-like protein-encoding open reading frames has not been confirmed.
