The CHM Polyclonal Antibody (CAB8345) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CHM, a protein involved in cellular processes and signaling pathways. This rabbit-raised antibody is highly specific to human samples and is suitable for use in Western blot applications. By binding to CHM, this antibody enables the detection and analysis of CHM expression in various cell types, making it ideal for studies in cell biology and molecular biology research.CHM, also known as Rab escort protein 1, plays a crucial role in the trafficking and localization of Rab GTPases, which are essential for vesicular transport within cells.
Dysregulation of CHM has been implicated in various cellular disorders and diseases, making it an important target for research in the fields of neurobiology, metabolism, and developmental biology. Insights gained from studying CHM can lead to a better understanding of cellular processes and potentially identify new therapeutic targets for a range of conditions.

This gene encodes component A of the RAB geranylgeranyl transferase holoenzyme. In the dimeric holoenzyme, this subunit binds unprenylated Rab GTPases and then presents them to the catalytic Rab GGTase subunit for the geranylgeranyl transfer reaction. Rab GTPases need to be geranylgeranyled on either one or two cysteine residues in their C-terminus to localize to the correct intracellular membrane. Mutations in this gene are a cause of choroideremia; also known as tapetochoroidal dystrophy (TCD). This X-linked disease is characterized by progressive dystrophy of the choroid, retinal pigment epithelium and retina. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
