The Chitotriosidase-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB2015) offered by AssayGenie is a valuable tool for researchers studying chitotriosidase-1, an enzyme involved in the degradation of chitin. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human chitotriosidase-1 and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting. Chitotriosidase-1 is known to play a role in the immune system, particularly in the defense against chitin-containing pathogens. It is also implicated in various diseases, such as Gaucher disease, where its levels are increased.
By using the CAB2015 antibody, researchers can detect and analyze chitotriosidase-1 levels in different cell types, furthering our understanding of its function in health and disease. This antibody is a valuable tool for researchers in immunology, infectious diseases, and metabolic disorders, as it allows for accurate detection and visualization of chitotriosidase-1 protein levels. By studying chitotriosidase-1, researchers can potentially uncover new therapeutic targets and treatment strategies for a range of conditions.

Chitotriosidase is secreted by activated human macrophages and is markedly elevated in plasma of Gaucher disease patients. The expression of chitotriosidase occurs only at a late stage of differentiation of monocytes to activated macrophages in culture. Human macrophages can synthesize a functional chitotriosidase, a highly conserved enzyme with a strongly regulated expression. This enzyme may play a role in the degradation of chitin-containing pathogens. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described for this gene.
