Description
CFL1/CFL2 (Ab-88) Antibody (PACO23593)
The CFL1/CFL2 Polyclonal Antibody (AB-88) is a vital tool for researchers studying CFL1/CFL2, two closely related proteins involved in actin cytoskeleton regulation and cellular processes such as migration and contraction. This antibody, developed using a rabbit host, demonstrates high reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, making it versatile for a wide range of experimental applications. Validated for use in Western blotting and immunofluorescence, it specifically targets CFL1/CFL2 proteins, allowing for precise detection and analysis in different cell types.CFL1 and CFL2 are crucial players in cell motility, with CFL1 being an actin-severing protein and CFL2 functioning as an actin-binding protein.
Their roles in cytoskeleton dynamics have implications in various physiological and pathological processes, including cancer metastasis and neuronal development. By studying the expression and function of CFL1/CFL2, researchers can gain insights into cellular mechanisms and potentially identify therapeutic targets for diseases related to cytoskeletal defects. The CFL1/CFL2 Polyclonal Antibody (AB-88) is a valuable resource for investigations in cell biology, cancer biology, and neuroscience, offering researchers a precise and reliable tool for exploring the functions and interactions of CFL1 and CFL2 proteins in a variety of experimental settings.

Background: | Controls reversibly actin polymerization and depolymerization in a pH-sensitive manner. It has the ability to bind G- and F-actin in a 1:1 ratio of cofilin to actin. It is the major component of intranuclear and cytoplasmic actin rods. |
Synonyms: | Cofilin; non-muscle isoform 18 kDa phosphoprotein; |
UniProt Protein Function: | Cofilin-1: a cytoskeletal protein that controls actin depolymerization. Has a 5-10-fold higher affinity for ATP-actin monomers than cofilin-1. May promote filament assembly rather than disassembly. Two alternatively spliced variants are described. Isoform b is expressed predominantly in skeletal muscle and heart, while isoform a is expressed in various tissues. |

NCBI Summary: | The protein encoded by this gene can polymerize and depolymerize F-actin and G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. Increased phosphorylation of this protein by LIM kinase aids in Rho-induced reorganization of the actin cytoskeleton. Cofilin is a widely distributed intracellular actin-modulating protein that binds and depolymerizes filamentous F-actin and inhibits the polymerization of monomeric G-actin in a pH-dependent manner. It is involved in the translocation of actin-cofilin complex from cytoplasm to nucleus.[supplied by OMIM, Apr 2004] |
