The Cerkl Polyclonal Antibody (CAB15984) is a valuable tool for research involving the Cerkl protein, a key player in retinal health and visual function. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in various applications, including Western blot and immunofluorescence.Cerkl is a protein found in the retina that is involved in maintaining the health and function of photoreceptor cells. Mutations in the Cerkl gene have been linked to retinal degenerative diseases, making it an important target for study in the field of ophthalmology and vision research.
By detecting and analyzing Cerkl expression in different cell types, researchers can gain insights into its role in retinal function and potential therapeutic strategies for related disorders.Furthermore, understanding the function of Cerkl may provide novel insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying retinal degeneration and offer new avenues for the development of treatments for retinal diseases. The Cerkl Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers aiming to unravel the complexities of retinal biology and advance our knowledge of vision-related disorders.

This gene was initially identified as a locus (RP26) associated with an autosomal recessive form of retinitis pigmentosa (arRP) disease. This gene encodes a protein with ceramide kinase-like domains, however, the protein does not phosphorylate ceramide and its target substrate is currently unknown. This protein may be a negative regulator of apoptosis in photoreceptor cells. Mutations in this gene cause a form of retinitis pigmentosa characterized by autosomal recessive cone and rod dystrophy (arCRD). Alternative splicing of this gene results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms and non-coding transcripts.
