The CEP97 Polyclonal Antibody (PAC056006) is designed for research involving CEP97, a centrosomal protein known for its role in cilia formation and cell division. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry applications. By targeting the CEP97 protein, researchers can visualize and study its localization and function in various cell types, providing valuable insights into cellular processes such as centrosome organization and ciliogenesis.
CEP97 is a key player in centrosome biology, playing a crucial role in the maintenance of centrosome integrity and function during cell division. Dysregulation of CEP97 has been linked to ciliopathies and cancer, making it a promising target for investigating disease mechanisms and potential therapeutic interventions. By understanding the function of CEP97, researchers can gain important knowledge about cell cycle regulation and cilia formation, opening up new avenues for drug discovery and treatment strategies.

Immunofluorescence staining of Hela cells with PACO56006 at 1:100, counter-stained with DAPI. The cells were fixed in 4% formaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.2% Triton X-100 and blocked in 10% normal Goat Serum. The cells were then incubated with the antibody overnight at 4°C. The secondary antibody was Alexa Fluor 488-congugated AffiniPure Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG(H+L).
Background:
Acts as a key negative regulator of ciliogenesis in collaboration with CCP110 by capping the mother centriole thereby preventing cilia formation. Required for recruitment of CCP110 to the centrosome.
Synonyms:
Centrosomal protein of 97 kDa (Cep97) (Leucine-rich repeat and IQ domain-containing protein 2), CEP97, LRRIQ2
UniProt Protein Function:
LRRIQ2: Collaborates with CCP110, being involved in the suppression of a cilia assembly program. Required for correct spindle formation and has a role in cytokinesis. Required for recruitment of CCP110 to the centrosome. 2 isoforms of the human protein are produced by alternative splicing.Chromosomal Location of Human Ortholog: 3q12.3Cellular Component: centrosome; protein complex; cytoplasm; microtubule organizing center; cytosolMolecular Function: calmodulin binding; protein bindingBiological Process: cell projection organization and biogenesis; organelle organization and biogenesis
