The CDK6 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16357) is specifically designed for research involving CDK6, a cyclin-dependent kinase that plays a crucial role in cell cycle regulation and cell proliferation. This antibody, raised in rabbits, demonstrates high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the CDK6 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of CDK6 in various cell types, making it an ideal tool for studies in cancer research and cell biology.
CDK6 is a key player in cell cycle control, promoting the progression from G1 to S phase and regulating cell growth. Dysregulation of CDK6 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, making it a valuable target for therapeutic development. Understanding the role of CDK6 in cell cycle regulation and proliferation is essential for advancing our knowledge of cancer biology and developing targeted treatments for cancer patients.

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the CMGC family of serine/threonine protein kinases. This kinase is a catalytic subunit of the protein kinase complex that is important for cell cycle G1 phase progression and G1/S transition. The activity of this kinase first appears in mid-G1 phase, which is controlled by the regulatory subunits including D-type cyclins and members of INK4 family of CDK inhibitors. This kinase, as well as CDK4, has been shown to phosphorylate, and thus regulate the activity of, tumor suppressor protein Rb. Altered expression of this gene has been observed in multiple human cancers. A mutation in this gene resulting in reduced cell proliferation, and impaired cell motility and polarity, and has been identified in patients with primary microcephaly.
