The CDK5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB18080) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5) protein, an important regulator of cell cycle progression and neuronal development. This antibody, produced in rabbits, has been rigorously validated for use in Western blot applications and is highly reactive with human samples.CDK5 is known for its role in various cellular processes, including synaptic plasticity, neuronal migration, and apoptosis. Dysregulation of CDK5 has been implicated in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, making it a target of interest for researchers in the fields of neuroscience and neurology.
By using the CDK5 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and quantify CDK5 protein levels in cell lysates and tissue samples, allowing for detailed analysis of its expression and activity. This antibody is a valuable tool for investigating the complex functions of CDK5 and its potential role in disease pathogenesis.

This gene encodes a proline-directed serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the cyclin-dependent kinase family of proteins. Unlike other members of the family, the protein encoded by this gene does not directly control cell cycle regulation. Instead the protein, which is predominantly expressed at high levels in mammalian postmitotic central nervous system neurons, functions in diverse processes such as synaptic plasticity and neuronal migration through phosphorylation of proteins required for cytoskeletal organization, endocytosis and exocytosis, and apoptosis. In humans, an allelic variant of the gene that results in undetectable levels of the protein has been associated with lethal autosomal recessive lissencephaly-7. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
