The CD59 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12412) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CD59, a cell surface protein involved in the regulation of the complement system. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the CD59 protein, this antibody enables researchers to detect and analyze its expression in various cell types, making it ideal for investigations in the fields of immunology and cancer research.CD59, also known as protectin, plays a crucial role in protecting cells from complement-mediated damage by inhibiting the formation of the membrane attack complex.
Dysregulation of CD59 has been implicated in various diseases, including autoimmune disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Therefore, a thorough understanding of CD59 activity is essential for the development of novel therapeutic strategies that target the complement system.By utilizing the CD59 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12412), researchers can further explore the functions and regulatory mechanisms of CD59, leading to potentially groundbreaking discoveries in the fields of immunology and disease biology.

This gene encodes a cell surface glycoprotein that regulates complement-mediated cell lysis, and it is involved in lymphocyte signal transduction. This protein is a potent inhibitor of the complement membrane attack complex, whereby it binds complement C8 and/or C9 during the assembly of this complex, thereby inhibiting the incorporation of multiple copies of C9 into the complex, which is necessary for osmolytic pore formation. This protein also plays a role in signal transduction pathways in the activation of T cells. Mutations in this gene cause CD59 deficiency, a disease resulting in hemolytic anemia and thrombosis, and which causes cerebral infarction. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants, which encode the same protein, have been identified for this gene.
