The CD4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1549) is a powerful tool for research involving the CD4 protein, a critical component of the immune system responsible for activating T cells. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting the CD4 protein, this antibody allows for accurate detection and analysis in various cell types, making it an excellent choice for studies in immunology and infectious diseases.CD4, also known as T-cell surface antigen T4/Leu-3, plays a vital role in the immune response by assisting in the recognition of antigens and activation of T cells.
Its involvement in immune regulation and cell signaling processes makes it a key target for research into various diseases, including HIV/AIDS, autoimmune disorders, and cancer. Investigating the functions of CD4 is essential for developing targeted therapies and vaccines that can effectively manipulate the immune system to combat these conditions.

This gene encodes the CD4 membrane glycoprotein of T lymphocytes. The CD4 antigen acts as a coreceptor with the T-cell receptor on the T lymphocyte to recognize antigens displayed by an antigen presenting cell in the context of class II MHC molecules. The CD4 antigen is also a primary receptor for entry of the human immunodeficiency virus through interactions with the HIV Env gp120 subunit. This gene is expressed not only in T lymphocytes, but also in B cells, macrophages, granulocytes, as well as in various regions of the brain. The protein functions to initiate or augment the early phase of T-cell activation, and may function as an important mediator of indirect neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated diseases of the central nervous system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified in this gene.
