The CD36 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1470) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the CD36 molecule, a cell surface receptor involved in various biological processes such as lipid metabolism, fatty acid uptake, and inflammation. This antibody, generated in rabbits, exhibits high specificity towards human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications.CD36, also known as scavenger receptor class B member 3 (SR-B3), is a multifunctional protein that plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism and cardiovascular diseases. Its involvement in lipid uptake and atherosclerosis makes it a promising target for studies in cardiovascular research and metabolic disorders.
The CD36 Polyclonal Antibody binds specifically to the CD36 protein, allowing researchers to detect and analyze its expression in different cell types and tissues. By understanding the function of CD36, researchers can gain insights into its role in lipid metabolism, inflammation, and cardiovascular health, potentially leading to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for diseases associated with dysregulated lipid metabolism.

The protein encoded by this gene is the fourth major glycoprotein of the platelet surface and serves as a receptor for thrombospondin in platelets and various cell lines. Since thrombospondins are widely distributed proteins involved in a variety of adhesive processes, this protein may have important functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It binds to collagen, thrombospondin, anionic phospholipids and oxidized LDL. It directly mediates cytoadherence of Plasmodium falciparum parasitized erythrocytes and it binds long chain fatty acids and may function in the transport and/or as a regulator of fatty acid transport. Mutations in this gene cause platelet glycoprotein deficiency. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.
