Description
CD14 Monoclonal Antibody, FITC [hCD4] (CPAB0317)
The CD14 Antibody (FITC) (CPAB0317) offered by Assay Genie is a valuable tool for research involving CD14, a cell surface receptor primarily found on monocytes and macrophages. This antibody, generated in a host species suitable for fluorescence applications, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity when detecting CD14 in human samples. Validated for flow cytometry analysis, the CD14 Antibody (FITC) binds to the CD14 protein, enabling researchers to accurately measure its expression levels in various cell populations.CD14 plays a crucial role in the recognition and response to bacterial pathogens, serving as a co-receptor for Toll-like receptor (TLR) signaling and promoting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
The ability to precisely quantify CD14 expression using this antibody makes it an essential tool for studies in immunology, infectious diseases, and inflammatory disorders. By understanding the role of CD14 in immune responses, researchers can gain insights into disease mechanisms and potentially develop targeted therapies for conditions such as sepsis, inflammatory bowel disease, and atherosclerosis.

Background: | CD14 (also known lipopolysaccharide (LPS) receptor) is expressed strongly on monocytes and macrophage and weakly on the surface of neutrophils. CD14 is anchored to cells by linkage to glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) and functions as a high affinity receptor for complexes of LPS and LPS binding protein (LBP). Soluble CD14, also binding to LPS, acts at physiological concentration as an LPS agonist and has, at higher concentrations, an LPS antagonizing effect in cell activation. CD14 has been shown to bind apoptotic cells. |
