The CD138 Syndecan-1 Monoclonal Antibody (CAB23249) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CD138, also known as Syndecan-1, a cell surface proteoglycan involved in cell adhesion and migration. This antibody, developed from mouse hybridoma cells, specifically targets human samples and is validated for use in various applications, including immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.CD138/Syndecan-1 is commonly found on the surface of plasma cells and is often used as a marker for identifying and studying these cells in the context of multiple myeloma and other plasma cell disorders.
By targeting CD138, researchers can accurately detect and analyze plasma cells in tissue samples, aiding in the diagnosis and monitoring of plasma cell-related diseases. The CD138 Syndecan-1 Monoclonal Antibody offers high specificity and sensitivity, making it a reliable tool for research in the fields of oncology, hematology, and immunology. Its ability to target CD138 with precision makes it an essential component for studies aimed at understanding the role of plasma cells in disease progression and response to treatment.

The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-1 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length natures of only two have been described to date. These two represent the major variants of this gene and encode the same protein.
