The CD138 Syndecan-1 Monoclonal Antibody (CAB23248) is a specialized tool for researchers studying CD138, also known as Syndecan-1, a cell surface protein involved in cell adhesion and signaling. This monoclonal antibody, produced through hybridoma technology, has high specificity for human CD138 and has been validated for use in various applications, including immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.CD138, a member of the syndecan family, plays a crucial role in cell-matrix interactions and is often overexpressed in certain cancers, particularly multiple myeloma. By targeting CD138 with this monoclonal antibody, researchers can investigate its role in cancer progression, metastasis, and potential therapeutic interventions.
Additionally, CD138 is a marker for plasma cells, making this antibody useful for identifying and studying these cell types in various tissues and disease states.Overall, the CD138 Syndecan-1 Monoclonal Antibody (CAB23248) provides researchers with a valuable tool for exploring the functions and implications of CD138 in cancer biology, immunology, and cell biology research. Its specificity, reliability, and versatility make it an essential component for studies aiming to understand the role of CD138 in health and disease.

The protein encoded by this gene is a transmembrane (type I) heparan sulfate proteoglycan and is a member of the syndecan proteoglycan family. The syndecans mediate cell binding, cell signaling, and cytoskeletal organization and syndecan receptors are required for internalization of the HIV-1 tat protein. The syndecan-1 protein functions as an integral membrane protein and participates in cell proliferation, cell migration and cell-matrix interactions via its receptor for extracellular matrix proteins. Altered syndecan-1 expression has been detected in several different tumor types. While several transcript variants may exist for this gene, the full-length natures of only two have been described to date. These two represent the major variants of this gene and encode the same protein.
