The CCT5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB6549) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the CCT5 protein, which is a subunit of the chaperonin-containing TCP-1 (CCT) complex involved in protein folding. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for Western blot applications. The CCT5 antibody specifically binds to the CCT5 protein, allowing for accurate detection and analysis in a variety of cell types. Its use is ideal for investigations in the fields of molecular biology and biochemistry, where understanding protein folding mechanisms is crucial for advancing research on diseases related to misfolded proteins, such as neurodegenerative disorders.
By utilizing the CCT5 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can further delve into the role of the CCT complex in protein folding, potentially uncovering new therapeutic targets for diseases characterized by protein misfolding and aggregation. Its specificity and reliability make it a valuable asset for studies aiming to elucidate the function of CCT5 in cellular processes and disease pathogenesis.

The protein encoded by this gene is a molecular chaperone that is a member of the chaperonin containing TCP1 complex (CCT), also known as the TCP1 ring complex (TRiC). This complex consists of two identical stacked rings, each containing eight different proteins. Unfolded polypeptides enter the central cavity of the complex and are folded in an ATP-dependent manner. The complex folds various proteins, including actin and tubulin. Mutations in this gene cause hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy with spastic paraplegia (HSNSP). Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Related pseudogenes have been identified on chromosomes 5 and 13.
