The CBX5 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12577) is a valuable tool for researchers studying the chromobox protein homolog 5 (CBX5), a key regulator of gene expression and chromatin remodeling. This antibody, produced in rabbits, specifically targets CBX5 in human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.CBX5, also known as HP1 alpha, is a member of the heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1) family and plays a crucial role in gene silencing and heterochromatin formation. It is involved in various cellular processes, including cell differentiation, DNA repair, and transcriptional regulation.
By using the CBX5 Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can effectively detect and analyze CBX5 expression in different cell types, providing insights into its function in chromatin organization and gene regulation. This antibody is particularly useful for studies in epigenetics, cancer biology, and developmental biology, where understanding the role of CBX5 is essential for uncovering new therapeutic targets and treatment strategies.
This gene encodes a highly conserved nonhistone protein, which is a member of the heterochromatin protein family. The protein is enriched in the heterochromatin and associated with centromeres. The protein has a single N-terminal chromodomain which can bind to histone proteins via methylated lysine residues, and a C-terminal chromo shadow-domain (CSD) which is responsible for the homodimerization and interaction with a number of chromatin-associated nonhistone proteins. The encoded product is involved in the formation of functional kinetochore through interaction with essential kinetochore proteins. The gene has a pseudogene located on chromosome 3. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.
