The CAV1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB1555) is a valuable tool for researchers studying caveolin-1, a key structural protein involved in multiple cellular functions. This antibody, generated in rabbits, specifically targets caveolin-1 and is highly reactive with human samples. Validated for use in Western blot applications, the CAV1 Polyclonal Antibody enables precise detection and analysis of caveolin-1 expression in various cell types.Caveolin-1, a critical component of caveolae structures on cell membranes, plays a crucial role in signal transduction, lipid transport, and cellular trafficking. Dysregulation of caveolin-1 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions.
By studying caveolin-1 expression and function, researchers can gain insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying these diseases and potentially identify new therapeutic targets. The CAV1 Polyclonal Antibody offers high specificity and sensitivity, making it an ideal tool for investigating caveolin-1 biology in both basic research and clinical studies. Its utility in Western blot applications makes it a versatile option for researchers interested in exploring the role of caveolin-1 in health and disease.

The scaffolding protein encoded by this gene is the main component of the caveolae plasma membranes found in most cell types. The protein links integrin subunits to the tyrosine kinase FYN, an initiating step in coupling integrins to the Ras-ERK pathway and promoting cell cycle progression. The gene is a tumor suppressor gene candidate and a negative regulator of the Ras-p42/44 mitogen-activated kinase cascade. Caveolin 1 and caveolin 2 are located next to each other on chromosome 7 and express colocalizing proteins that form a stable hetero-oligomeric complex. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Berardinelli-Seip congenital lipodystrophy. Alternatively spliced transcripts encode alpha and beta isoforms of caveolin 1.
