The Caveolin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB0059) is a research tool specifically designed for studying Caveolin-1, a critical protein involved in cellular signaling and membrane organization. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity towards human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By targeting Caveolin-1, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis of the protein in various cell types, making it a valuable tool for researchers in the fields of cell biology, signal transduction, and cancer research.Caveolin-1 is a key component of caveolae, specialized lipid rafts on the cell membrane that play crucial roles in cellular processes such as signal transduction, endocytosis, and cholesterol transport.
Dysregulation of Caveolin-1 has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. Therefore, investigating the function and regulation of Caveolin-1 is essential for understanding its role in health and disease, as well as for developing potential therapeutic interventions targeting this protein.

The scaffolding protein encoded by this gene is the main component of the caveolae plasma membranes found in most cell types. The protein links integrin subunits to the tyrosine kinase FYN, an initiating step in coupling integrins to the Ras-ERK pathway and promoting cell cycle progression. The gene is a tumor suppressor gene candidate and a negative regulator of the Ras-p42/44 mitogen-activated kinase cascade. Caveolin 1 and caveolin 2 are located next to each other on chromosome 7 and express colocalizing proteins that form a stable hetero-oligomeric complex. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Berardinelli-Seip congenital lipodystrophy. Alternatively spliced transcripts encode alpha and beta isoforms of caveolin 1.
