Description
CAV1 Monoclonal Antibody [PAT4C1AT] (CPAB0438)
The Cav1 Antibody (CPAB0438) is a powerful tool for research involving caveolin-1, a crucial protein involved in cell signaling and cellular transport. This polyclonal antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific for detecting caveolin-1 in human samples, and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to caveolin-1, this antibody enables researchers to accurately study its role in various cell types, making it an ideal choice for studies in cell biology, signal transduction, and cancer research.Caveolin-1 is a key player in various cellular processes, including lipid transport, signal transduction, and membrane trafficking.
Its dysregulation has been linked to a number of diseases, making it a potential target for therapeutic interventions. By studying the function of caveolin-1 using this antibody, researchers can gain insights into its role in diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. Understanding the mechanisms by which caveolin-1 operates is essential for developing novel treatments that target this important protein.

Background: | The scaffolding protein encoded by the CAV1 gene is the key component of the caveolae plasma membranes found in most cell types. Cholesterol is vital for caveolae formation and maintenance, and caveolae structure is highly sensitive to cholesterol depletion or treatment with cholesterol binding drugs. CAV1 can tightly and specifically bind free cholesterol and artificial cholesterol containing vesicles. Caveolin 1 links integrin subunits to the tyrosine kinase FYN, which is an initiating step in coupling integrins to the Ras-ERK pathway and promoting cell cycle progression. CAV1 is a tumor suppressor gene candidate and a negative regulator of the Ras-p42/44 mitogen-activated kinase. Caveolin 1 and caveolin 2 are positioned next to each other on chromosome 7 and express co-localizing proteins which form a stable hetero-oligomeric complex cascade. Mutations in the CAV1 gene are linked to Berardinelli-Seip congenital lipodystrophy. |
