The Catalase Polyclonal Antibody (CAB11780) is a research tool specifically designed for studying the enzyme catalase. Catalase is an antioxidant enzyme that plays a crucial role in protecting cells from oxidative damage by breaking down hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. This antibody, generated in rabbits, is highly specific to human catalase and is validated for use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. With its high sensitivity and specificity, this antibody allows for accurate detection and quantification of catalase in various cell types and tissues. Its ability to target catalase makes it an invaluable tool for researchers interested in studying oxidative stress, cellular metabolism, and the role of antioxidants in health and disease.
By using the Catalase Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can gain insights into the function of catalase in different biological processes, including aging, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. Understanding the regulation and activity of catalase can lead to the development of novel therapeutic strategies for conditions characterized by oxidative damage. Whether investigating basic cellular biology or exploring potential therapeutic interventions, this antibody is essential for advancing research in the fields of biochemistry, pharmacology, and medicine.

This gene encodes catalase, a key antioxidant enzyme in the bodies defense against oxidative stress. Catalase is a heme enzyme that is present in the peroxisome of nearly all aerobic cells. Catalase converts the reactive oxygen species hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen and thereby mitigates the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Oxidative stress is hypothesized to play a role in the development of many chronic or late-onset diseases such as diabetes, asthma, Alzheimer's disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancers. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with decreases in catalase activity but, to date, acatalasemia is the only disease known to be caused by this gene.
