The Catalase Polyclonal Antibody (CAB11777) is a valuable tool for studying the enzyme catalase, which plays a crucial role in protecting cells from oxidative damage by catalyzing the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. This antibody, produced in rabbits, is highly specific and reactive with human samples, making it an excellent choice for research in biochemistry and cell biology.Catalase is found in all aerobic cells and is particularly abundant in cells that are exposed to high levels of oxygen, such as liver and kidney cells. Dysregulation of catalase activity has been linked to various diseases, including cancer, diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders, making it an attractive target for therapeutic interventions.
By using the Catalase Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and quantify catalase levels in different cell types and tissues, providing valuable insights into its role in oxidative stress-related diseases. This antibody is validated for use in Western blot applications, offering reliable and reproducible results for a wide range of research projects.

This gene encodes catalase, a key antioxidant enzyme in the bodies defense against oxidative stress. Catalase is a heme enzyme that is present in the peroxisome of nearly all aerobic cells. Catalase converts the reactive oxygen species hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen and thereby mitigates the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Oxidative stress is hypothesized to play a role in the development of many chronic or late-onset diseases such as diabetes, asthma, Alzheimer's disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, and cancers. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with decreases in catalase activity but, to date, acatalasemia is the only disease known to be caused by this gene.
