The CAST Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16790) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CAST, a protein involved in regulating immune responses and cell signaling pathways. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and is validated for use in Western blot applications. By specifically targeting the CAST protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in a variety of cell types, making it an ideal choice for immunology and cancer research studies.
CAST is a key player in immune regulation, playing a vital role in modulating inflammatory responses and allergic reactions. Its involvement in immune function makes it a promising target for investigating diseases such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, and chronic inflammatory conditions. Understanding the mechanisms by which CAST influences immune responses is crucial for developing effective therapies that target or modulate immune function in disease settings.

Recombinant fusion protein containing a sequence corresponding to amino acids 406-695 of human CAST (NP_001177371.1).
The protein encoded by this gene is an endogenous calpain (calcium-dependent cysteine protease) inhibitor. It consists of an N-terminal domain L and four repetitive calpain-inhibition domains (domains 1-4), and it is involved in the proteolysis of amyloid precursor protein. The calpain/calpastatin system is involved in numerous membrane fusion events, such as neural vesicle exocytosis and platelet and red-cell aggregation. The encoded protein is also thought to affect the expression levels of genes encoding structural or regulatory proteins. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described.
