The Caspase-3 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB16793) is specifically designed for research involving caspase-3, a key enzyme involved in apoptosis, or programmed cell death. This antibody, raised in rabbits, is highly reactive with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry applications. Caspase-3 is a crucial mediator of apoptosis in various cell types, making this antibody ideal for studies in cell biology, cancer research, and drug development. By targeting caspase-3, researchers can investigate the mechanisms underlying cell death and survival pathways, providing valuable insights into diseases such as cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, and autoimmune conditions.
Understanding the role of caspase-3 in apoptosis is essential for developing targeted therapies that promote cell death in cancer cells or prevent excessive cell death in neurodegenerative diseases. The Caspase-3 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers aiming to unravel the intricate processes of cell death and survival in health and disease.

The protein encoded by this gene is a cysteine-aspartic acid protease that plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. The encoded protein cleaves and inactivates poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase while it cleaves and activates sterol regulatory element binding proteins as well as caspases 6, 7, and 9. This protein itself is processed by caspases 8, 9, and 10. It is the predominant caspase involved in the cleavage of amyloid-beta 4A precursor protein, which is associated with neuronal death in Alzheimer's disease.
