The Caspase-4 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB19305) is a valuable tool for researchers studying caspase-4, an enzyme involved in apoptotic cell death and inflammation. This antibody, derived from rabbits, is highly specific to human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications. By binding to the caspase-4 protein, this antibody allows for the detection and analysis of this key enzyme in a variety of cell types, making it a versatile tool for studies in immunology, cancer research, and inflammatory conditions.
Caspase-4, also known as inflammatory caspase, plays a crucial role in the initiation of the inflammatory response by activating pro-inflammatory cytokines. Its involvement in inflammatory pathways makes it a promising target for research focused on diseases such as sepsis, inflammatory bowel disease, and cancer. Understanding the function of caspase-4 is essential for developing new therapies aimed at modulating inflammatory responses in these disease contexts.

This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the cysteine-aspartic acid protease (caspase) family. Sequential activation of caspases plays a central role in the execution-phase of cell apoptosis. Caspases exist as inactive proenzymes composed of a prodomain and a large and small protease subunit. Activation of caspases requires proteolytic processing at conserved internal aspartic residues to generate a heterodimeric enzyme consisting of the large and small subunits. This caspase is able to cleave and activate its own precursor protein, as well as caspase 1 precursor. When overexpressed, this gene induces cell apoptosis. Alternative splicing results in transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
