The CaMK2A Polyclonal Antibody (CAB17916) is a valuable tool for researchers studying CaMK2A, a calcium/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase involved in various cellular processes, including cell proliferation, neuronal signaling, and synaptic plasticity. This antibody, produced in rabbits, exhibits high reactivity with human samples and has been validated for use in Western blot applications.CaMK2A is known to play a pivotal role in the regulation of neuronal function, learning, and memory, making it a key target for studies in neuroscience and neurodegenerative diseases. By specifically binding to CaMK2A protein, this antibody enables precise detection and analysis in different cell types, offering researchers valuable insights into the mechanisms underlying neuronal signaling and synaptic plasticity.
Moreover, CaMK2A has been implicated in various pathological conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target. Investigating the function of CaMK2A using this antibody may pave the way for the development of novel treatments for neurological disorders and other diseases associated with dysregulated calcium signaling pathways.

The product of this gene belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinases family, and to the Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinases subfamily. Calcium signaling is crucial for several aspects of plasticity at glutamatergic synapses. This calcium calmodulin-dependent protein kinase is composed of four different chains: alpha, beta, gamma, and delta. The alpha chain encoded by this gene is required for hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP) and spatial learning. In addition to its calcium-calmodulin (CaM)-dependent activity, this protein can undergo autophosphorylation, resulting in CaM-independent activity. Several transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms have been identified for this gene.
