The Bim Polyclonal Antibody (CAB12554) offered by AssayGenie is a valuable tool for researchers studying the Bim protein, a pro-apoptotic factor involved in regulating cell death. This antibody is produced in rabbits and exhibits high reactivity with human samples, making it an excellent choice for Western blot applications. The Bim protein is a critical regulator of apoptosis, playing a key role in maintaining cellular homeostasis and eliminating damaged or unwanted cells. Dysregulation of Bim expression has been linked to various diseases, including cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, making it an intriguing target for therapeutic intervention.
By using the Bim Polyclonal Antibody, researchers can detect and analyze the expression of Bim in various cell types, aiding in the study of apoptosis pathways and potential therapeutic strategies. This antibody is a valuable tool for investigators in the fields of oncology, neuroscience, and cell biology, providing insights into the role of Bim in health and disease.

The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the BCL-2 protein family. BCL-2 family members form hetero- or homodimers and act as anti- or pro-apoptotic regulators that are involved in a wide variety of cellular activities. The protein encoded by this gene contains a Bcl-2 homology domain 3 (BH3). It has been shown to interact with other members of the BCL-2 protein family and to act as an apoptotic activator. The expression of this gene can be induced by nerve growth factor (NGF), as well as by the forkhead transcription factor FKHR-L1, which suggests a role of this gene in neuronal and lymphocyte apoptosis. Transgenic studies of the mouse counterpart suggested that this gene functions as an essential initiator of apoptosis in thymocyte-negative selection. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been identified.
