The Bestrophin-1 Polyclonal Antibody (CAB5735) is a powerful tool for researchers studying Bestrophin-1, a protein known for its role in calcium-activated chloride channels. This antibody, produced through immunization of rabbits, exhibits high specificity and sensitivity towards Bestrophin-1 in human samples, making it an essential component for Western blot applications.Bestrophin-1 is crucial for maintaining proper cellular function, particularly in the eye where it plays a role in fluid balance and retinal health. Dysregulation of Bestrophin-1 has been implicated in various eye disorders, including Best vitelliform macular dystrophy.
By using this antibody, researchers can accurately detect and analyze Bestrophin-1 expression in different cell types, allowing for deeper insights into its function and potential therapeutic targets. With its ability to facilitate the study of Bestrophin-1 in both normal and disease states, the Bestrophin-1 Polyclonal Antibody is an invaluable tool for research in ophthalmology, molecular biology, and biomedicine. Its reliability and specificity make it a trusted choice for researchers looking to advance our understanding of Bestrophin-1 and its implications in human health.

This gene encodes a member of the bestrophin gene family. This small gene family is characterized by proteins with a highly conserved N-terminus with four to six transmembrane domains. Bestrophins may form chloride ion channels or may regulate voltage-gated L-type calcium-ion channels. Bestrophins are generally believed to form calcium-activated chloride-ion channels in epithelial cells but they have also been shown to be highly permeable to bicarbonate ion transport in retinal tissue. Mutations in this gene are responsible for juvenile-onset vitelliform macular dystrophy (VMD2), also known as Best macular dystrophy, in addition to adult-onset vitelliform macular dystrophy (AVMD) and other retinopathies. Alternative splicing results in multiple variants encoding distinct isoforms.
